Fom Poverty to prosperity: Children interviews

In order to Participate at the Seminar From Poverty to Prosperity, Silvia Dalla Rosa and Silvia Paolucci, whose participated on behalf of Equipe Europa Giovani had to interview some children, asking them what does poverty mean to them.
here the results of some of those interviews.

Elena, 9 years: Poverty is a mistake, a failure of the adults. Adults never found a solution to poverty, even if they tried many times. Man does not make a sufficient effort, because finding a solution to poverty is not that hard. If we think about the supermarkets full of goods.

Eljiana, 6 Years: The poor are people like Jesus, his mother and his father, but also the little children. Me and my sister Tamara are from Serbia, where there are also the gypsies. My grandma who lives there always tells us we need to be careful of the gypsies because they are poor and the stole the children.

Sofia, 5 years: poor are the little children that do not have toys. At Christmas people should give them money and things so that they are not poor anymore.

Luca, Marco, 12 years old: People in Italy are not poor, but we need to remember the gypsies, the clochards and also the prostitutes. Also the drug addicted are poor because they use their money just to take drugs. The state just think for itself and does not help poor people. The state has to help those poor that want to work and give a house to those who do not have it. Who does not want o works asks for money by the streets.

Zayad, 12 years old (from Pakistan, just 1 year in Italy): in the future I would like there to be more brotherhood between different people. We are all the same. San Francesco was rich but he wanted brotherhood so he took off all his clothes in the square. In order to decrease unemployment, the taxes should be decreased, especially in the south of Italy and we also need to erase mafia and camorra. I also think that Italy should protect the environment because our country is one of the richest for cultural and historical heritage, also by UNESCO. Some people in Sicily through trash in the sea but that is not fair.
